  i have been a jw all my life, my sister and i are now in our late twenties and are so unhappy and after desparate attempts to keep up meeting attendance are not spiritually motivated.

  we in last few weeks have found some very disturbing things in our search such as the un involvement.

  after research on these things and use of the wt library the society speaks for it's self on these issues calling the un the "disgusting thing" that the book of daniel spoke about(wt 85' para.

  unfortunately, facts dont mean anything to witnesses... if it's against the org., it's apostasy. as far as your husband saying that there must be an organisation to fulfill the purpose of christianity, where does the bible say that? jesus said as long as there are two or three gathered in his name, he is there. the scripture concerning the faithful and discreet slave is vague and rhetorical. it has nothing to do with a modern-day prophet, which the watchtower considers itself.

  this is a lengthy topic, but there are many posts on this subject... do a search and you might find something that will help you. good luck!

  i felt privileged to be invited to a special meeting which was earmarked only for publishers in good standing who had been baptized at least 25 years.

  i was baptized 28 years (yes i was quite young) and clyde was baptized 25, but he refused to go.

  phew! i sure am glad i'm too young to remember that... i think my anger levels would be a lot higher if i was older and remembered stupid shit like that!.. and special assembly days always go overtime... it's practically a guarantee

  i'll tell you one thing... everybody here is getting way to excited about something they know nothing about! now THAT'S the JW way... let's all just be calm and wait for the special assembly day... if we build it up, we could get let down... you guys have all seen the clip of tom cruise's last appearance on oprah? if those are his highs, imgagine his lows... let's not get so excited just to get let down...

  i'm not trying to be a dick... i would love to hear something really cool and wild... but let's wait patiently!

  defd you have to realise how many people are just reading this and are on the fence with a lot of things... believe it or not, a lot of us still believe in at least SOME jw doctrine... you have a chance to quote something from a scripture that helps to "prove" a jw doctrine, or as witnesses will call it, TRUTH... but you refuse to do it. why? just quote the bloody scripture so we can all read it. there are a lot of people who are ready to fall off the fence... which way do you want them to fall? if you KNOW THE TRUTH, THEN SHARE IT or YOU ARE BLOOD-GUILTY...

  san bruno, calif. three months in jail is the sentence for a california woman who used a butcher knife to beat a jehovah's witness, after the woman knocked on her door on christmas day.. cathy infusino also will spend three months in a work program and three years on probation.

  anybody know how the witnesses managed to demonize the expression, "new testament/old testament"?

  my jw mother said "it's because when you call the hebrew scriptures the old testament, it makes them sound out of date, but they're really not because there is so much we can learn from blah blah blah blah blah blah".

  any thoughts?.

  last night we went to visit my sil and her 3 kids.

  my sil is a jw but very nice and never pushes her beliefs upon anyone else.

  she's been df'd 2-3 times but is currently reinstated.. i was trying to talk with our niece.
